The Riverwood Forest Retreat
Project type
Resort (Hospitality)
Date
16 Acres
Location
Kanha National Park, MP
Spread across 16 acres, adjoining the Tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh we are happy to introduce Waxpol’s Riverwood Forest retreat at Kanha. It is a sustainable luxury experience for wildlife enthusiasts and retreat seekers. Set in the buffer forest overlooking a body of water, offering pure unrestricted views of nature and an opportunity to unwind in luxury while preserving the environment.
The resort has public areas which include the reception, bar, games room, library, gym, spa, conference room and a double level dining area that overlooks the waterbody adjoining the forest boundary. An extension of the dining is the deck on the pond that leads to the Pool surrounded by all the other amenities. All maximising the views to the outside and making you one with nature.
Riverwood comprises of 20 Spacious premium cottages- with large double-glazed windows that prevent heat gain, add natural light and promote biophilia. The resort policies and architecture were committed to reducing the carbon footprint of the property and preserving the natural existing terrains as much as possible. Our tree cover was maintained throughout- in fact buildings were shifted, broken, punctured and altered by the land & trees; not vice versa. All structures are made of AAC Blocks- insulating against the scorching Central India heat and helping with electricity preservation.
Most of the resort is powered by Solar energy, the water consumed in the resort is replenished back in gardening and other uses, the vegetable garden ensures zero dependency on the surroundings and the waste generated is recycled on the property with no single use plastic- creating a fully self-sustaining ecosystem.
In the process of construction, we involved the neighbouring villages in the works and brought a sense of community to the whole experience. Materials were locally sourced and finished on site to meet our requirements, all furniture was also by an excellent local craftsman in a nearby village. A time-consuming process, but worth it in our opinion, as it is now truly a rooted development.
